Frequently Asked Questions
|
Q. Why do you charge for recycling appliances? A. Appliance recycling aside from being a tedious and time consuming task, has a disposal cost involved. An example would be the safe recovery of refrigerants or CFC's (Freon) from refrigerators, freezers and other like appliances that could possibly harm the environment if done improperly. The appliances that we collect and receive are in whole condition, that the cost of demanufacturing these appliances does not add up to the return value of the scrap metal. However, with our volume, we are able to pass along an extremely reasonable pricing to all our customers. Q. Why should I order online? A. Online ordering is the easiest, efficient and most cost effective way of processing the large volume of orders that we receive. Our online ordering facility is available 24/7. Q. What does it cost? A. Kindly check of PRICING page for all the fees. Q. Who do I make the check out to? A. Make the check out to “Unwanted Appliances” Q. Can I drop off my appliances instead of having them picked-up? A. Yes, we have two drop-off locations that accepts non-freon appliances (only) for drop-off. Check our LOCATIONS page. Dumping appliances is considered a crime in most states and is subject to significant fines and potential jail time. Q. What happens to my appliances after they are picked-up? A. This mainly depends on the type and condition of the appliances. Those containing CFC's will undergo Freon recovery that will be done by our licensed staff. The extracted CFC's will then be transferred to a regional processing facility. Other appliances will have their metals removed and then sorted for scrap processing. Some of the appliances which are still in a possible good condition will be wholesaled to both individuals and appliance dealers who could repair them for use or resale. Q. Where and when do I leave my appliances for outside pick-up? A. Appliances scheduled for outside pick-up need to be at an accessible location outside the house by 8:00 a.m. on the scheduled day of pick-up. We recommend the top of the driveway. Q. Do you buy used appliances? A. No. Our business is appliance removal and recycling. We do not have a store, but we do wholesale as-is appliances to dealers and individuals if it seems like they could be repaired and resold as an alternative to scrap metal. If you are looking to buy or sell a used appliance we recommend www.ApplianceXchange.com. Q. Do you go into the home? A. Yes, for an additional charge. See our PRICING page for details. Most people select our driveway removal for convenience and affordability, but we can arrange to unhook and remove your appliance for an additional charge. Q. I am on the schedule, when will my appliances be picked-up outside? A. Our trucks run from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. or later. If you are scheduled to have your appliance removed on a certain day, please allow until 7:00 p.m. for removal. |
