Frequently Asked Questions |
|
Q. Why do you charge for recycling appliances? A. Recycling of appliances is generally a very time consuming and laborious task. Most all waste has a cost involved with it's disposal. Refrigerators and freezers contain CFC’s (Freon) that are pollution to the environment if they are exposed to air. Since we collect and receive appliances in whole condition, the cost of demanufacturing the appliances does not add up to the return value of the scrap metal. Because of our volume, we are able to pass along extremely reasonable pricing to our customers.
Q. Why should I order online? A. Online ordering is the most cost effective and efficient method of processing the large volume of orders that we receive and it is available anytime.
Q. What does it cost? A. Check our Pricing page for all fees.
Q. Who do I make the check out to? A. Make the check out to “Unwanted Appliances”
Q. Can I drop off my appliances instead of having them picked-up? A. Yes, at most of our locations for half the price of pick-up orders. Check our Locations page. Dumping appliances is considered a crime in most states and is subject to significant fines and potential jail time.
Q. What happens to my appliances after they are picked-up? A. It depends on the type and condition of the appliances. All appliances with CFC’s have the pollutant extracted by our licensed staff which then transfers the extracted CFC’s to a regional processing facility. Other appliances have the different metal types removed and sorted for scrap processing. A few of the better condition appliances are wholesaled to individuals and appliance dealers who will attempt to repair them for use or resale.
Q. Where and when do I leave my appliances for outside pick-up? A. Appliances for outside pick-up need to be at an accessible location outside the house by 8:00 a.m. on the scheduled day of pick-up. We recommend the top of the driveway.
Q. Do you buy appliances? A. No. Our business is appliance removal and recycling. We do not have a store, but we do wholesale as-is appliances to dealers if it looks like they could be repaired and resold as an alternative to scrap metal. If you are looking to buy or sell a used appliance we recommend www.applianceXchange.com.
Q. Do you go into the home? A. Yes, for an additional charge. See our Prices for details. Most people select our driveway removal for convenience and affordability, but we can arrange to unhook and remove your appliance for an additional charge.
Q. I am on the schedule, when will my appliances be picked-up outside? A. Our trucks run from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. or later. If you are scheduled to have your appliance removed on a certain day, please allow until 7:00 p.m. for removal.
